A Brown Pearcy Customer Favorite
One of our longtime customers, Gerald Long, sent this recipe in — and we knew immediately it needed to be shared.
This is the kind of meal that fills the house with that unmistakable “dinner’s ready” smell. Big skillet. Big pan. Big portions. Leftovers that somehow taste even better the next day.
It’s simple. It’s hearty. And it’s built around real ground beef — the way goulash should be.
Ingredients
2½ lbs Brown Pearcy Ground Beef
2 onions, chopped
Fresh mushrooms, chopped (as many as you like)
½ cup ketchup
2 teaspoons salt (divide use)
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Dash Original seasoning
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon parsley (chopped fresh or dried)
2 (28 oz) cans diced tomatoes
2 (29 oz) cans tomato sauce
1½ bags elbow noodles (24 oz bags)
1½ cups shredded mild cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
Instructions
1. Cook the Beef
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Break it up well as it cooks.
Add the chopped onions and mushrooms.
Season with:
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Dash seasoning
Italian seasoning
Cook until onions are soft and fragrant.
2. Boil the Noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon salt to the water.
Cook elbow noodles until just al dente.
Drain and set aside.
3. Build the Goulash
To the drained noodles, add:
The cooked beef mixture
½ cup ketchup
Diced tomatoes
Tomato sauce
Parsley
Stir until everything is well combined.
4. Bake
Transfer to a large baking dish.
Top with shredded cheese.
Bake at 350°F until the cheese is melted and bubbly (about 20–25 minutes).
Let it cool for about 30 minutes before serving — this helps everything set and makes it easier to portion.
What Makes This One Different?
It’s the beef.
With 2½ pounds of quality ground beef, this isn’t a skimpy goulash. It’s rich, hearty, and satisfying — the kind of meal that stretches across multiple dinners and feeds a crowd without feeling like leftovers.
